Consumer Grade Routers.
There has been more than ample press on Russian hacking lately. The latest is the assault on consumer grade routers. Routers sit between your internet modem and your internal network to route network traffic and add a layer of protection from the internet. US-CERT bulletin TA18-106A issued April 18, details Russian state-sponsored actors compromising these routers and redirecting traffic so that they can steal sensitive information traveling over the internet. At this point the risk appears to be only to consumer routers and most commercial and business level routers are not affected. Be sure your routers firmware is kept up to date and the present wisdom is to reboot the router to break their connection.
